Beautiful White
We live in a world filled with an amazing kaleidoscope of beautiful color. Colors ranging from light and bright to dark and moody, and so much more.
When it comes to color my personal favorite is white. As with many colors there are mixed reviews about the color white. Some might consider it to be boring or sterile or cold and lifeless and we have all very likely seen spaces that felt that way. But white done well can have a very different feel.
A white room can be warm and welcoming, giving an open and airy feeling that seems spacious and freeing, relaxing and refreshing. When you pair several shades of white together within a room it creates depth and interest while still keeping things visually light and open.
The most important thing to remember when using one prominent color in a space is to use multiple tones of that color and scatter them throughout.
Every room needs a bit of warmth added. For example, in a white room you could use white and off white and even add in a bit of soft ivory, beige or light taupe or a very light gray making sure that all of the tones are used in multiple areas around the space.
You can also add other soft neutrals such as warm wood tones to bring in contrast and interest. Wicker baskets, wood tone picture frames, ceiling beams or a fireplace mantel could easily bring those warm tones into your home. Cozy up the space and give it visual warmth by adding softly colored pillows, art and an area rug. Adding warm tones will be a great compliment to the space giving it a nicely finished look and feel.
Color is personal and can even, in some instances, evoke deep emotional feelings. If you’re looking for a space that feels calm, serene and welcoming, perhaps you will consider my favorite; warm, beautiful white.
